Mackellar joins Soy Canada as new market development manager
Ottawa – Soy Canada is pleased to announce that Nicole Mackellar has joined the organization as the market development manager. She will be spearheading the organization’s efforts to support Canada’s world leading food grade soybean exports, promoting the value and quality of Canada’s soybeans in our key export markets.
Mackellar brings with her an extensive background in agriculture with a speciality in market development, international trade, market access and sustainability. She is a 2017 Nuffield Canada Scholar studying the opportunities to brand Canadian commodities. She joins the organization after previously working for Grain Farmers of Ontario for 10 years leading their market development department.
Mackellar will be focused on retaining and expanding market opportunities for Canadian soybeans for the benefit of the entire soybean value chain. She will keep a close eye on market trends in Asia and Europe, the primary export markets for Canadian soybeans. As part of her efforts she’ll be organizing opportunities for the Canadian industry to connect with export customers, promoting the quality of Canadian food grade soybeans and helping to share the story of and Canadian soybeans. In doing so, she will ensure information flows throughout the value chain from customers all the way back to seed developers.
Nicole is an active member of her family’s cash crop farm in Southwestern, Ontario growing corn, soybeans and wheat.
