Posted on: September 3, 2015

Soy Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Lyndsey Smith to the role of Director, Communications and Stakeholder Relations.

Lyndsey, a familiar name and face to many in the agricultural industry, is a seasoned agricultural communicator, most recently serving as the first-ever editor of RealAgriculture.com. Her move to Soy Canada follows an extensive career in agriculture media, where she has gained significant experience in public relations, agricultural policy and all aspects of communications strategy and delivery.

A self-proclaimed agriculture enthusiast, Lyndsey’s personable character and quick wit lend naturally to the objectives of Soy Canada – a new association representing a commodity undergoing dynamic growth in Canada.

“Soybean farmers and industry will be well-served by Lyndsey’s in-depth understanding of the agriculture industry from the farm up,” says Jim Everson, executive director of Soy Canada. “Few can match Lyndsey’s combination of knowledge and passion for advancing Canadian agriculture.

“Lyndsey will lead the association’s outreach and engagement strategy and contribute to all aspects of Soy Canada’s mandate,” Everson says.

Lyndsey will be based in Ottawa. Her first day with Soy Canada will be September 28, 2015.

Soy Canada is the national commodity association representing the full soybean value chain in Canada including farmers, exporters, processors and seed companies. Canadian farmers produced 6.04 million tonnes of soybeans in 2014 earning $2.4 billion in farm cash receipts; Canada’s 3rd most valuable crop.
